&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp After an all-nighter, caffeinated beverages are a lifeline. So, you head to Starbucks to be greeted with a sweet southern accent saying, "What can I get for ya?" Gurnie's endearing maternal instinct often goes unnoticed as it passes in front of half-opened eyes near death from lack of sleep, but her passion for students and love for life is captivating.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The Amityville Horror has almost every ingredient to a good scary movie. A haunted house, a demonic step dad, a really annoying "I'm going to run up the stairs even though the front door is right there" scene, everything…well almost. The Amityville Horror messed up when they called Ryan Reynolds and told him he landed the possessed step dad.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp "You must challenge yourself," Mrs. Carmen Durrani tells her Spanish 201 class. She is talking from experience when she requests this from her students. She has earned multiple degrees, traveled many different places, and has had many unique experiences. She not only teaches conjugations and verb tenses, she teaches about the cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries and the importance of knowing foreign languages. It is easy to see her passion for languages and she makes it easy for her students to catch some of that passion, too.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The warm sun shines brightly on the hillside. A breeze blows softly through the trees, now thick with blossoming leaves. The rich, green grass is littered with college students lazily enjoying the refreshing spring weather and the last few weeks of the semester. Sounds relaxing, right? It is- mostly. However, one stressful thought fills the mind of nearly every Concord University student on this afternoon- final exams.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp When I was growing up one of my favorite movies was Nickelodeon's "Harriet the Spy." For those of you who haven't seen this Nick classic, it revolves around eleven year-old Harriet M.
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp For a second week the Desk, shortened to make it easier on the reader, has received negative responses to pieces that have been published. Allow me to begin my rebuttal by stating that I not only accept, but also encourage the adversity. I respect the opinions of my counter-parts and encourage their continued critiques, but there is a large problem with the recently submitted responses to the Desk; there appears to be a lack of understanding from what has been published. Though I would like to move on to a final column for the semester, I feel that these misunderstandings must be addressed in this the last issue of the semester.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp First of all, let me say that in no way am I ashamed of my opinion about diversity. I didn't think that I had to put my name on the piece I wrote in the paper because the importance wasn't in who wrote, but about what was written. My name is MariLuz Diaz and I'm a freshman. I didn't think to put this information in the paper because I felt that it would be viewed as more objective if people didn't know my name. But recently, my choice of being anonymous has been called stupid and unnecessary, a claim I aim to address.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Some people say that four years is a long time. I used to be one of those people. I remember when I started my education at Concord and I thought the four years will be an eternity. Now though, a week before graduation it feels like it was yesterday when I first set foot on campus. I was able to get a high quality education from a multitude of professors whose academic qualities equaled their incredible personalities. Unfortunately, there were certain aspects of life that Concord simply did not prepare me for...
